If you have ever marvelled at the fine detail or flowing lines of a wood carving, you may have wondered what it would be like to carve. In this woodcarving 1 week introductory course, our expert woodcarver Angel will bring his experience and expertise to this day’s enjoyable teaching.
This 1 week introductory course is divided into 15 hours over the course of 5 days. For each of these 5 days, 3 hours will be spent.
Our course utilizes one to one tutoring. Our tutor will devote his undivided attention to meeting your goals and needs by tailoring the course to your individual strengths and weaknesses so that you can prosper at your highest potential.
Day 1:
On day 1 of this wood carving course for beginners we will cover how to draw a project, how to sharpen your carving tools using manual and machine methods, and the foundational techniques needed to carve wood such as how to carve intricate geometric patterns.
While working on your woodcarving project we will also teach you how to hold and handle basic chisels. At each stage of the project where a new tool is required, we’ll teach you how to use it before letting you put it into practice. This hands on approach and active learning experience is the most effective way to learn how to use these tools.
Day 2:
On day 2 of this course, you will be shown how to use power tools for your wood carving projects. Following this introduction to power tools you will start to carve the project you drew on day 1. This will be done with the help of your tutor.
Day 3 to 5:
From day 3 to 5 we will hone your carving technique to further improve it and then introduce you to more advanced chisels. Over these 3 days, you will receive valuable practice and experience with these advanced tools.
We will teach you all of these skills in our workshop and will supply all the tools and materials you need so that you leave with a strong foundation in wood carving, projects you’re proud of, and a smile on your face. We also offer the option for this course to be brought to your home or workshop at an additional fee. Please contact us, if you would prefer the woodcarving course to be led at your home.
